Volunteer Experience...

Miguel Solano-Romagosa from Costa Rica...

Miguel arrived at Japan the first week of February 2011 and has been involved in volunteer projects in Hokkaido and Tokyo where he stayed with host families.
In Hokkaido he participated in cultural activities in the city of Hakodate and he also traveled 1 month to Setana for farm work volunteering. Then he returned to Tokyo to work with ICYE, Eco League (environmental organization) and at the Tsunami affected area: Tohoku.

What is ICYE?
ICYE is an organization that promotes volunteer exchange programs with people from all over the world.
ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) is a non profit, non governmental federation that has it's main office in Berlin, Germany and has representative members all around the world. ICYE is recognized by the United Nations as an “International Messenger of Peace” and is
part of the Co-Coordinating Committee for International Volunteer Services (CCIVS), associated to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

About ICYE JAPAN
The main objective of ICYE JAPAN is to provide young people an opportunity to travel abroad and get
involved in projects that have a positive impact not only on society but on their life and perspectives.

With this mutual cultural volunteer exchange program the organization seeks to strengthen friendly relationships between the countries participating in the programs and prepare individuals for the present day world society: independent, more open minded, with multi language skills, and more cultural comprehensive.
Also ICYE JAPAN accepts people from other countries to assist in social and environment projects in different parts of Japan, giving them an opportunity to interact with Japanese people and culture.
