The Penultimate Week Of February

The Penultimate Week Of February

Hello again everybody, it’s Thomas.

This past week has been as interesting as ever, with me accidentally missing work one day and taking part in mochi-tsuki (making rice cakes) on another.

After misreading an email that I received, I believed that the ICYE office was closed on Tuesday, leading me to accidentally make other plans and so miss work. That was rather embarrassing as it was clear that the email was not from the ICYE Japan office, but I failed to read it properly.

The next day, I went to the YMCA and helped to tidy up and prepare for Friday. They also had guests that I believe were from the education board. The rest of that day was rather normal.

2015-02-05 13.54.17On Thursday, I went to the nursery and we played around a lot. Whilst there, I had a picture of me drawn which I think looks a lot like me. It’s better than I can do anyway. Towards the end of my time there, we went into the hall and played some group games, one of which I had to come up with on the spot.

The next day, I was back at the YMCA and we were making mochi. I never actually hit the rice cake because I was feeling a little bit under the weather, but instead shaped and prepared the mochi when it was ready. of course I took a bit back for my host family to enjoy.

And finally, today I came to the ICYE office and I am working along side the intern. It’s nice and relaxed, which is great after the busy week I have had. I am certain that the rest of my time in Tokyo will be just as busy and fun.

Thanks for reading.
